01 / The interface
HTML, CSS & JavaScript
HTML structures each page, CSS creates the responsive design, and JavaScript powers search, filters, bookmarks and interactive controls. Most directory content is generated ahead of time, so it can be read before scripts finish loading.
02 / Building & publishing
Node.js, esbuild, GitHub & Netlify
Node.js prepares the pages from structured JSON data. esbuild bundles browser code. GitHub tracks source changes, and Netlify builds and serves the published website. Netlify Functions support protected server-side features. Netlify Blobs stores public blog posts and comments.
03 / Your account
Firebase Authentication & Cloud Firestore
Firebase handles sign-in. Cloud Firestore stores signed-in members’ saved tools, agents, private notes, profiles and lesson completion. Database security rules restrict access to account data.
04 / Your world view
Leaflet, D3 Geo & TopoJSON
Leaflet powers the road, satellite and terrain maps. D3 Geo draws the political view and rotatable globe; TopoJSON handles simplified country boundaries from Natural Earth via world-atlas. Road tiles come from OpenStreetMap; satellite and terrain imagery come from Esri.
05 / Learning at your pace
Curated resources & browser storage
Learning trails connect introductions, selected videos and original AI Atlas exercises. Bookmarks, exercise drafts and practice completion stay in this browser. Video lesson completion can sync to your member account. Videos open on YouTube when you choose to watch.
06 / Understanding usage
Optional Google Analytics for Firebase
With your permission, Google Analytics for Firebase helps measure how the site is used. You can decline or change your choice through Analytics settings. Netlify also provides hosting traffic analytics; the separate admin snapshot is not a live counter.
